Description

Like all good art, it is sometimes easy to dismiss the work as simple, or decoration perhaps because of the medium, but look past that initial perception and you will be rewarded a piece that continues to evolve in front of you; whether it’s physically, visually, or mentally. There is a guaranteed evolution with each and every viewing.

With a cosmopolitan background that straddles art, sculpture, contemporary furniture and cutting edge design, and an entrepreneurial drive that has seen him build separate businesses both in London and New York, TP Hardisty has forged an exciting reputation as an international artist synonymous with the innovative use of colour, structure and reinvention.

All is not what it seems at first glance, with the work of TP Hardisty. Each facet is not instantly apparent. It is only when you take a closer look that things begin to be revealed, but even then, the big reveal isn’t always guaranteed. With a second look, you might start to see the materials used to create these images. Then again, maybe you might not. Therein lays the beauty an intricacy of Hardisty’s work.

From plastic toy ducks to vehicle reflectors, from boxes of condoms to colourful pencils: these are objects are entry points into the world of TP Hardisty’s art. Understanding this might lead you to realise that it might perhaps take a third, or even fourth look to see the depth, intricacies, subtleties, reflections and movements that stubbornly stayed hidden during that first cursorily glance.

Despite all of this, not all of Hardisty’s artwork is keen on revealing it’s hidden details, even after a multitude of attempts. Some are destined to remain hidden, teasing you to the point of mockery and then surprising you with an unexpected revelation, like images that glow in the dark. They linger and stay with you long after you have switched off the lights and gone to bed. Bold, provocative and stimulating, TP Hardisty's core tenet of creatively reinventing the everyday has seen him quickly establish himself as one of the UK's most fascinating emerging talents. He’s breaking new ground, providing strong and compelling perspectives to the obscure and the unseen, via the abstract transformation of everyday objects and observations.

Recent exhibitions include, London Art Fair, Art Miami, Art Palm Beach, Art Wynwood as well as Art Southampton in New York.

Hardisty lives in the UK and Switzerland. His work can be found private collections and institutions across the globe, including the UK, France, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, South Africa, the Philippines and now at Art Monaco 2016.
